Chhaava Censor Board’s Demands: The film ‘Chhava’ required some changes to get a certificate from the censor board. The dialogues of the film have been improved. Also, new words have been used replacing the earlier words. The film ‘Chhava’ has been passed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). However, getting a U/A certificate was not easy for the film. The way for the release of the film could be cleared only after some necessary changes.
A dialogue in which ‘poison of the Mughal Sultanate’ was said was changed to ‘At that time, many rulers and sultanates were trying to keep themselves alive’. Similarly, ‘Khoon to aakhir Mughal ka hi hai’ was changed to ‘Khoon to hai Aurang ka hi’. Apart from this, some objectionable words have been muted. Also, the word ‘Jai Bhavani’ has been used in place of ‘Amen’.
A dialogue in the first part of the film was also changed. Apart from this, the scene in which Maratha warriors were shown in saree has been removed. These changes have been made as per the demand of CBF. Apart from this, some age related changes were also made. Like ’16 years’ was changed to ’14 years’, ’22 year old boy’ to ’24 year old boy’ and ‘9 years’ to ‘many years’.
The censor board has asked the producers to add an audio-text disclaimer, in which the name of the book from which this film has been adapted should be mentioned and it should also be told that its purpose is not to defame anyone or distort historical facts.
The film could get the censor certificate only after all these changes. In the certificate given by the censor board, the total length of the film has been stated as 161.50 minutes, i.e. 2 hours 41 minutes 50 seconds. This film is directed by ‘Laxman Utekar’. Earlier, he directed films like ‘Luka Chuppi’ (2019) and ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke’ (2023). Now Chhaava is set to release in theaters on 14th February 2025.
