Viswaksen’s Laila is disappointing. His recent outing Laila released today and failed to entertain the audience. Those who watched the film in the theatres expressed their anguish on social media platforms. Neither the story nor Viswaksen’s lady getup enthralled them. The film failed to attract the audience and amassed enough negativity due to poor story selection and narration.
Viswaksen must avoid Negative Publicity
Filmmaking is a tough process. A lot of money and effort, both physical and cognitive, goes into it. More than production, cinema promotions have become inevitable and challenging now. Right from the biggest stars to upcoming actors, everyone is determined to promote their film to build curiosity and reach a larger audience. Sometimes, these films or actors get into controversies, which in turn bring massive publicity. Intentionally or unintended, this regularly happens with Viswaksen for some strange reasons. Viswaksen has now become a synonym for controversy.
Reason for Controversy
The controversy began when senior actor Prithvi, once a close associate of a political party who withdrew later, made a politically charged comment. He called 11 Gorrelu (11 Sheep), referring to the number of MLAs a political opposition party recently won. It was expected that the opposition party fans would rage and spread negativity through the ‘Boycott Laila’ campaign on social media. What was surprising is that another section, knowing nothing about the film, supported Laila movie to counter the opposition bloc. Interestingly, supporters of big actors close to the party came in large numbers and extended their support on social media.
It would have been a sign of victory for a section if the movie did well. Now that the Laila is a disaster, they expressed their distress on social media. Laila lacks drama, comedy, and everything in between. Fans did not expect a dud like Laila from a multi-talented actor/writer/director like Viswaksen.
Directed by Ram Narayan and produced by Sahu Garapati under Shine Screens, Laila stars Vishwak Sen as Sonu and Laila, a lady getup. Akanksha Sharma plays the female lead. “Laila,” released on February 14, 2025 to poor reviews.
