Elon Musk mail has created quite a rift. Musk, spearheading the Department of Government Efficiency in the Donald Trump administration asked all federal employees to disclose what they did in the last week. “Please reply to this email with approx 5 bullets of what you accomplished this week and cc your manager,” said Elon Musk’s Office of Personnel Management message sent to employees on Saturday afternoon. Elon Musk email instructed employees to respond by midnight on Monday and not to include classified information. Failing to reply is considered a form of resignation.
“As part of the Trump administration’s commitment to an efficient and accountable federal workforce, O.P.M. is asking employees to provide a brief summary of what they did last week by the end of Monday, cc’ing their manager,” McLaurine Pinover, a spokeswoman for the agency, said in a statement on Saturday. “Agencies will determine any next steps.”However, it created a rift and confusion among themselves.
After Kash Patel, Tulsi Gabbard instructs employees to ignore Elon Musk’s productivity email. The Department of Defense also asked employees not to answer. Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence, advised intelligence community officers not to reply to Elon Musk’s email and refrain from sharing information about five things they did last week. She said it affects the nature of intelligence jobs.
Earlier, Musk deployed a similar tactic back in 2023 to Twitter employees when he took over the social media platform.
“Elon is doing a great job, but I would like to see him be more aggressive,” Mr. Trump said in a post on Saturday on his social media site. Accepting Trump’s challenge, Musk wrote on Saturday “All federal employees will shortly receive an email requesting to understand what they got done last week,” “Failure to respond will be taken as a resignation,” he added.
It will be interesting to see how this matter ends.
