Good News for Hyderabad: A Tunnel road to Srisailam

Good news for those traveling between Hyderabad-Srisailam. While the journey is currently made with dangerous turns, soon you can travel smoothly without any ghat road. In addition, there is a chance that the travel distance will also be reduced. To this end, the center is planning to build a tunnel road in place of the previously proposed elevated corridor.

The Hyderabad-Srisailam highway is one of the main routes for traffic between the two Telugu states. This highway is the busiest after Hyderabad-Vijayawada. Many people going to Rayalaseema areas travel through this road. However, it is known that the center is ready for the expansion of the crucial Hyderabad-Srisailam national highway. An elevated corridor was planned to be built to deal with the increasing traffic problem. Since there is Amrabad Tiger Reserve forest on this route, the alignment was also prepared in the past to build a 62.5 km corridor with a height of 30 feet.

Tunnel Road Update?

However, another proposal has recently come to the force. The Center has suggested that the issue of constructing a road underground instead of an elevated corridor be examined. It is learnt that a study will be conducted by a private company in a few weeks. If an elevated corridor is constructed as previously proposed, permission from the Forest Department will be required. Since Amrabad is a Tiger Reserve, NTCA permissions will also be required. Currently, there is a ban on vehicle traffic on the Srisailam Highway from 9 pm to 6 am. The main reason for this is that the movement of other wild animals, including tigers, is more frequent at night. If an elevated corridor is constructed, it is expected to cause trouble to wildlife. In this context, it is learnt that the tunnel road is ready for construction. Officials say that the road will also pass over the ground surface in the middle.

The construction of this tunnel will reduce the distance between Hyderabad-Srisailam. The current National Highway will be expanded from Mannanur to Srisailam Pathalganga via Farhabad, Vatavarlapalli, Domalapenta. The total distance of this road is 62.5 km. In Mannanur, only 3.7 km. will be a forest-free route. The rest 58.8 km. will fall within the territory of the Tiger Reserve Forest. In this context, preparations are being made for the construction of the tunnel road. The current road has dangerous turns. However, if you go underground, you can reach it smoothly without any turns. The total distance will also be reduced to 12 km. There is a chance that an official announcement will be made on the construction of this project soon.
