The most recent Bollywood film to debut on Netflix Nadaaniyan directed by Shauna Gautam, Khushi Kapoor plays the female lead in the movie, and Ibrahim Ali Khan, son of Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan, makes his debut. We’ll see how this romantic comedy does.
Plot line:
Rich South Delhi teen Pia Jai Singh (Khushi Kapoor) is committed to upholding her social standing at school. She pays a diligent middle-class kid from Noida named Arjun Mehta (Ibrahim Ali Khan) Rs. 25,000 a week to pretend to be her boyfriend to impress her friends. What starts as a straightforward transaction quickly draws them into a web of unanticipated feelings, making them face their glaring differences, underlying fears, and the frailty of the world they have created for themselves.
Lacking Points in the Film:
Although “Nadaaniyan” means “innocence,” the movie comes across as more stupid than innocent. It is obvious why the filmmakers decided on an OTT release rather than a theatrical one because the plot is shallow and predictable. They must have known it wouldn’t work on the large screen. Even though Khushi Kapoor has a terrific appearance on television, her acting could use a lot of work. Her portrayal is unconvincing in several moments due to her lackluster facial expressions and delivery of language.
Also, in the film, the Gen Z culture didn’t work out well on the screen as it was mainly focused on the unrealistic version and fake relationship portrayal. The movie feels rushed even though it is shorter than two hours. The songs that are not even needed are the main problem. A music interrupts just as the plot is getting underway, slowing it down. This drag could have been prevented with tighter editing.
