Artificial intelligence is expected to be a threat to humankind for years. Even with all the triggers and warnings, AI has now come to use, and the risks of AI are never-ending. One such risk is the replacement of AI in human-related fields. This has been a global sensation as AI is now leading the market and companies with significantly less manpower compared to the previous decades. A well-known investor, Gurmeet Chadha, took to his Twitter handle to express his views on the latest announcement of layoffs from a global brand, ‘Amazon.’. This brand sounds very similar, but the manpower in this company is slowly being replaced by AI. This company announced 18,000 job cuts in November 2024 due to various reasons. Now again, within just 5 months, this company has again announced 10,000 layoffs.
He expressed his frustration over layoffs and their showoff about treating employees like family. He wrote, ‘Amazon is laying off 10000 more people after laying off 18k in November.
They call their HR heads people experience head, chief people officer, and fancy names… Employees are called families.

Call me old-school, but I value people more than anything else. Any innovation, as Guru Nanak Devji said, should keep people’s welfare (Sarbat da bhalla) as the core.’
His main thought on this issue is the way technological advancements are impacting people’s livelihoods, and he called this whole scenario ‘useless.’.
