A fire broke out in the residential bungalow of a Delhi High Court Judge named Yashwant Varma. Which ended up in resulting recovery of a huge pile of cash. The case is now in shock waves in the judicial corridors.
According to the reports, when the fire broke out, Justice Yashwant Varma was not in town. His family members called the fire brigade and the police. After the fire was doused, the first responders found a huge amount of cash inside the room. Further, the local authorities informed to Supreme Court Judge about the accidental discovery. CJI Khanna took it very seriously and immediately called for a collegium meeting.
Justice Yashwant Varma was born on 6th January 1969 in Allahabad. He persued his B.Com from Hansraj College, Delhi University. Following this he completed his LLB from Rewa University, Madhya Pradesh thereafter he was enrolled as an Advocate on August 8th, 1992.
Following this he became as an Additional Judge at the Allahabad High Court on October 13th, 2014 took oath as the permanent judge of the court on February 1st, 2016. Presently he is serving in Delhi High Court
About this sensational incident Justice A N Mittal said, “Certainly it is very serious and condemnable incident, and it is told that he is being transferred to his parent court. It is not a punishment but a reward to him.”
Following this he said, “I know Mr Yashwant Varma who has practiced before me when i was in Allahabad High Court, and first of all he must be asked from where did he bring this cash from.”
Justice Mittal also said, transferring him to his hometown is not a punishment but a reward. Following this he added, “All the work has to taken away from him and there must be an enquiry on him.”
