OpenAI Plans to Reduce ChatGPT Price Amid Reliance Partnership Talks

OpenAI Plans to Reduce ChatGPT Price Amid Reliance Partnership Talks

OpenAI is considering lowering the subscription price of ChatGPT. The company is in discussions with Reliance Industries for a partnership. This partnership can allow Reliance Jio company to distribute ChatGPT in India.

Reports suggest that OpenAI might cut the subscription price by 75% to 85%. The current price is $20. Reducing the price may help more people access ChatGPT. Reliance has also shown interest in using OpenAI models for its business users. The company may sell these models through an application programming interface (API). This would allow other businesses to integrate ChatGPT into their operations. Moreover Reliance is discussing the possibility of hosting OpenAI’s models locally. This is to ensure that Indian user data remains within the country.

Reliance is also planning to build a massive data center in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The proposed data center will have a capacity of three gigawatts. It would be one of the largest data centers in the world.

Data centers are measured in megawatts. A higher megawatt rating means a greater ability to support computing activities. This is important for running AI models and handling large amounts of data.

Reliance is reportedly purchasing AI semiconductors from Nvidia. Nvidia’s partnership with Reliance was announced last year. The two companies are working together to develop this particular AI infrastructure in India.

Meta is also in discussions with Reliance along with the Open AI. This can lead to collaboration on AI projects. Such partnerships could also accelerate AI development and adoption in India. OpenAI’s move to reduce ChatGPT’s price could make AI services more accessible.

For the unversed, OpenAI’s collaboration with Reliance Jio aligns with India’s growing focus on artificial intelligence. Mukesh Ambani announced Jio’s wish in delivering AI solutions across India two years back. Also Jio partnered with IIT Bombay to develop Bharat GPT aiming to create AI models tailored for Indian users. These initiatives combined with OpenAI’s efforts are set to accelerate AI adoption offering advanced tools and services to a broader audience in India.
