Sunny Deol Advises Bollywood: Bollywood star Sunny Deol recently expressed his admiration for South Indian filmmakers by urging Bollywood producers to learn from their approach to cinema. He recently attended the trailer launch of his upcoming film Jaat. In the event Sunny Deol praised about the dedication and passion that Southern filmmakers bring to the industry.
“My producers are so good. I want producers of Bombay to learn (from them). You all call it Bollywood but first refer to it as Hindi cinema and learn how to make cinema with love (from South filmmakers),” Sunny Deol said.
Sunny Deol Advises Bollywood:
Jaat is produced by Hyderabad based Mythri Movie Makers and backed by People Media Factory. The film is set to release on April 10. The film is directed by Tollywood director Gopichand Malineni known for Veera Simha Reddy. Sunny Deol praised the commitment of the producers by acknowledging their respect for the director’s vision.
“They focus and enjoy the subject. They rope in the director and show trust in his vision. They leave no stone unturned in achieving that. The story is the hero (for them). I thoroughly enjoyed working with all of them,” he added. Sunny Deol also hinted at the possibility of working in the South again. “I told them (makers) ‘Let’s do another film.’ Maybe I shall go and settle there (in the South),” he quipped.
Also Sunny Deol mentioned how Bollywood filmmakers sometimes lose their roots and follow Western trends. “The South films retain all of those things and that’s how their films become pan India. Every person across the country relates to them. I believe we should also follow this thing in Hindi (cinema) and get back to our roots,” he said.
When asked if he would consider playing negative roles like his brother Bobby Deol, Sunny responded, “I won’t call it negative. I will just call it a character. If I get that kind of character then I would definitely love to do it. But the director and producers need to have the guts to do that with me.”
Jaat features an ensemble cast including Randeep Hooda, Vineet Kumar Singh, Saiyami Kher and Regina Cassandra. It will be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages.
