It is well known that Miss Universe Sushmita Sen was one of the fearless and strongest personalities in the film industry. In an interview, she revealed that she was once banned from magazine covers during the ’90s. She was told that her photographs would be a bad influence on children and the younger generation.
Banned from Magazines:
In the interview, she said “There were repercussions. It was a much more closeted society back then, so if you spoke your mind, it was seen as rebellious.” Further in the interview, she revealed how she was excluded from the leading entertainment cover pages. She said, “There was a time when they told magazines not to put me on the cover because of my quotes,” she shared. While she understood why this happened, she admitted that she never held back from expressing her thoughts. “I was very loud and clear.”
Reasons:
Additionally, she added, “I thought, if you take away my freedom to express myself, what freedom do I really have? So am I going to be scared away from speaking my mind, or am I just going to learn how to say it better or say it nicer? I chose the latter”. She also said that she was very open and clear about her thoughts but over time she understood how to resonate with people without hurting them.
Lastly, she said that the world now is far better and more accepting than the world that I faced before. Most of the individuals restricted the opportunities and tried putting barriers.
