As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD),a rain alert for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh has been issued.After recent heat waves, both states will experience thunderstorms as well as lightning and moderate to heavy rainfall in several districts.
The temperature in Telangana has been rising steadily. Many areas have crossed 40°C which makes it difficult for people to step outside during the day.But, IMD predicts that rains will provide relief from April 1 onwards.
Thunderstorms and strong winds will hit multiple districts from April 2.The Hyderabad Meteorological Center has issued an Orange Alert for various districts like Adilabad, Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad and Kamareddy. These regions will witness moderate to heavy rains accompanied by lightning and strong winds.
A Yellow Alert has been issued for Mancherial, Jagtial, Siricilla, Peddapalli and Medak districts.These districts will experience moderate rainfall. Scattered showers are expected in several parts of the state on April 3 and 4.Farmers in alert-listed districts have been suggested to take necessary precautions to prevent crop damage.
A trough and surface circulation are influencing the weather in Andhra Pradesh. North and South Coastal Andhra will experience light to moderate showers with thunderstorms. The Amaravati Weather Center has stated that maximum temperatures will remain 2 to 4 degrees above normal in these areas.
Rayalaseema districts will continue to have dry weather.However,some parts of Alluri district, including Chinturu, may witness severe thunderstorms. As per APSDMA reports,126 mandals in Andhra Pradesh are at risk of heavy winds.
On March 30, 22 districts recorded temperatures above 40°C. At the same time,in 96 locations it crossed 41°C. The highest temperature recorded was 43.7°C in Atlur (YSR district), followed by 43.5°C in Rudravaram (Nandyal) and Peddaraveedu (Prakasam).
