Charminar plaster pieces fall from minaret

Tourists were alarmed on Thursday when a piece of plaster fell from one of the minarets of the ancient Charminar, which is close to the Bhagyalakshmi Temple. As pieces of plaster fell away from the building, site visitors fled for their lives. Authorities hurried to the location to evaluate the situation. Although there were no reported casualties, the event cast doubt on the centuries-old monument’s structural soundness. Authorities started restoration efforts after noticing that similar instances had happened before. Officials pledged to make the required repairs in order to protect the renowned site and guarantee visitor safety.

Charminar in Trouble:

Due to heavy rains pieces fell down from the northeast part of the minar. According to the sources, there were no casualties in the location after the incident occurred. It is also reported that there is heavy rains in Charminar and Gulzar House. This alarming situation to a historic monument is raising many speculations behind the restoration process and the development on Charminar.

According to the sources, the plastering on the minar was not the original and it was redone in the year 1924 by the seven nizam, Mir Osman Ali Khan. Earlier also this minar has been damaged by a lightning and was repaired immediately.

Reasons for the damage:
There are several reasons behind the damage that occurred to a historic monument. The main reason for the damage is due to pollution and the weather conditions. Apart from this, there will be wear and tear on the monument due to heavy human activity near the location.

From past few years there is heavy traffic of tourist to Charminar. Due to this the restoration process and the protecting of monument will be in a slow process.
