AP Secretariat Battery Room: A fire broke out in the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat early in the morning. Flames erupted in the battery room of the second block and the batteries are completely burnt. The fire alarm did not activate delaying the response.

Fire Incident in AP Secretariat

At 6:30 AM on Friday, smoke started coming from the battery room on the ground floor of the second block. Security personnel noticed it and tried to control the flames but the fire had already spread. Officials suspect a short circuit in the main electrical panel room caused the incident.

The fire alarm system failed to activate making it harder to detect the fire on time. Security teams struggled to contain the flames before firefighters arrived.

Security staff alerted the fire department and firefighters rushed to the scene. The State Police Force (SPF) also joined the efforts to control the situation.

The fire destroyed around 300 inverter batteries in the battery room. Thick smoke spread across the second block and made it difficult for staff to breathe and work. Firefighters worked for hours to bring the situation under control.

Fortunately, no casualties occurred. But officials estimate significant financial losses due to damage to batteries, electrical equipment and wiring.

Officials Begin Investigation: Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire. Officials are also examining why the fire alert system did not work.

The second block of the Secretariat contains important offices including those of:

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Home Minister Anitha, Ministers Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and Payyavula Keshav

AP Secretariat Battery Room: Following the fire, senior officials inspected the site. GAD Secretary Meena will visit the location for further assessment.

Fire Safety Measures Under Review: Authorities have decided to review fire safety measures at the Secretariat. Officials plan to inspect fire alarms, electrical systems and emergency response plans to prevent similar incidents in the future.
