IndiGo Crew Accused: A woman has accused an IndiGo flight crew member of stealing her five-year-old daughter’s gold chain during a flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Bengaluru on April 1. The incident happened on IndiGo flight 6E 661. The mother, Priyanka Mukherjee, was travelling with her two daughters, aged five and two, and filed a police complaint after landing in Bengaluru.
According to Priyanka, her children started fighting after takeoff. A flight attendant, Aditi Ashwini Sharma, stepped in to help by taking care of the older child. Once the flight was nearing Bengaluru, Aditi returned the child. That’s when Priyanka noticed the gold chain, weighing about 20 grams, was missing from her daughter’s neck.
She immediately questioned the flight attendant, who denied any wrongdoing. Priyanka reported the matter to airport officials, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and the airline. However, she claimed she didn’t receive a helpful response for several hours after landing.
She added that the police tried contacting Aditi through the airline, but she did not speak to them directly. The airline also said there was no CCTV footage available to verify the claim, which has made the investigation difficult.
After her complaint, the police filed an FIR and began looking into the case. So far, no arrests have been made. The airline responded saying it is aware of the issue and is cooperating fully with the investigation.
IndiGo stated that they take such matters seriously and will support the authorities in their inquiry. Meanwhile, the mother is still waiting for answers about her missing gold chain.
This has created concerns among passengers about the safety of valuable belongings while traveling by air. Many social media users have expressed support for the mother and urged airlines to strengthen security measures onboard. Some have also questioned why there are no surveillance cameras inside the aircraft cabin especially when incidents like this occur. Experts say having CCTV footage inside planes could help in resolving disputes more easily and protect both passengers and crew members. The absence of such evidence in this case has left investigators relying only on statements and internal inquiries.
