Food Vlogger Puts 2-Minute Maggi to the Test: Gets roasted by the Internet

A large number of Indians are aware of the “Maggi 2-minute promise”. This alludes to the well-known marketing claim made by the company, which emphasizes speed and convenience, that their noodles can be prepared in just two minutes. This guarantee of a short cooking time has grown to be a crucial component of its allure and brand identity throughout time. A culinary vlogger named @amithsaid recently decided to test this claim in his unique method, and his video has gone viral on social media. Many people, however, believed that his method was fundamentally flawed.

The vlogger starts off by declaring that he will attempt to make Maggi in precisely two minutes and that he will consume the outcome. Placing a tablet on the countertop, he sets the timer. The gas stove takes a few seconds to light, so he dashes to do it. Then he puts a pan over the heat and fills it with water. He takes out the masala sachet from a Maggi packet. He clarifies, “I always put the masala in first because that’s the right way to cook Maggi.” In addition to adding salt, he pours the contents of the masala powder packet over the water. He adds the noodles to the pan after giving the ingredients a quick swirl to combine them.

“The instructions on the Maggi package explicitly state that the noodles and masala should be added once the water has boiled. He claims that Nestle is assuming that the two minutes begin once the water is boiled. “But clearly, we ignored that today,” he continues, pointing to his pan. By now, there are just around 30 seconds left on the timer. “There is no way this is going to be cooked,” he says out loud as he stirs the pan’s contents again. Not even the water has boiled. I will eat it, though, as I promised. regardless of the outcome of this.” He shows what his version of “2-minute Maggi” looks like by turning off the gas and pouring the soggy noodles into a bowl as the timer goes off. He can be seen tasting the food at the conclusion.

On Instagram, the reel has received over million views to date. Many people noted in the comments that the “2 Minutes” promised only applies to the noodle‘ actual cooking time, not the total amount of time from the beginning. See few of the responses below:

“Well – they never said give your commentary, try lighting your stove within those 2 mins.”

“But why did you add extra salt, and why did you waste 10 seconds to light the stove?”

“2 mins is just a metaphor.”
