White Rice Every Day: Rice is a major part of our daily meals in many households. It is common to eat rice two or three times a day. But is it healthy to consume rice so frequently? Nutrition experts say eating rice many times a day may not be good for everyone especially for people with diabetes or those who are overweight.
When we eat rice, it quickly increases glucose (sugar) levels in our blood because of its high glycemic index. Regularly eating such foods can lead to higher blood sugar levels. For people who already have diabetes, this can be dangerous and difficult to manage.
Diabetic patients who eat rice three times a day may find it hard to control their sugar levels. Health experts suggest they should eat rice in limited amounts as per their doctor’s advice. Eating too much rice can cause the body to produce extra insulin and store more glucose which may lead to weight gain and other health problems.
Rice is high in carbohydrates. If our body doesn’t use these carbs as energy, they get stored as fat, especially around the belly. Over time, this can lead to obesity. Too much belly fat is harmful and increases the risk of heart disease and other health issues.
Eating too much rice also adds more calories to the body than needed. This slows down metabolism and can cause hormonal imbalances, thyroid issues and even heart problems.
That said, you don’t have to completely stop eating rice. It gives us energy and is an important food. But it’s better to eat rice only once a day preferably in the morning or afternoon. At night, you can choose healthy alternatives like vegetables, pulses or multigrain roti.
Before making any big changes to your diet, always consult a doctor or nutritionist. Everyone’s body and health condition is different, so it’s important to follow a diet that suits your individual needs.
