Hyderabad: Water Supply Disruption on April 12

Hyderabad: Water Supply Disruption: Hyderabadis, take note! The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) recently announced a temporary closure of water supply on April 12 due to unavoidable repair of the Godavari Drinking Water Supply Scheme. This scheme is a vital drinking water supply to Greater Hyderabad, and the repair work is being done on the 1200 mm diameter MS gravity main pipeline at Shahpur Nagar.

Date and Time of the Water Cut

Repair operation will be performed on April 12, between 6 am and 9 pm, during a total duration of 15 hours. During this period, water supply will be completely suspended in certain localities within the jurisdiction of Jalmandila O&M Division-12. In nearby localities, partial cuts can also be anticipated.

Areas Affected by the Water Cut

The following localities are going to be impacted with water supply:

Complete Disruption: Shapur Nagar, Sanjay Gandhi Nagar, Kalavati Nagar, HMT Society, HAL Colony, TSIIC Colony, Roda Mistri Nagar, Srinivas Nagar, Indira Nagar, Gajularamaram, Sri Sai Hills, Devender Nagar, Kailash Hills, Balaji Layout, Kaiser Nagar, and Gajularamaram village.

Partial Disruption: Nearby areas can also have low water supply.

Individuals are asked to stock up enough water early enough so that they are not inconvenienced by the disruption.

Apprehensions about decreasing reservoir levels

To the dilemma, levels of key reservoirs such as Nagarjunasagar and Srisailam of the Krishna basin. And Sripada Yellampally of the Godavari catchment, are dropping very quickly. This runs the risk of a water scarcity in Greater Hyderabad next month. The HMWSSB urged the irrigation department to maintain reservoir levels at such levels that shortages in drinking water do not result.
