Hyderabad: Metro second phase work has begun, in THIS area

Hyderabad Metro: Good news for Hyderabad Metro commuters. The construction work of the second phase has begun. Work has begun on the route from MGBS to Chandrayangutta via Old Basti. While the acquisition of assets has already begun, the structures for which compensation has been paid are being demolished.

Hyderabad Metro: second phase work has begun

The metro plays a key role in Hyderabad’s public transport . Nearly 5 lakh people travel every day. Currently, the metro runs between three corridors: LB Nagar-Miyapur, Nagole-Rayadurgam, and MGBS-JBS corridors. In view of the popularity of metro trains, more corridors have been proposed in the second phase. There will be mainly five corridors in the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro. The Telangana state cabinet has already approved these. Final approval is awaited from the central government.

In the second phase, the Green Line extension will be constructed from MGBS to Chandrayangutta via Patabasti and Falaknuma. This route will have 6 stations including Darulshifa Junction, Shalibanda Junction and Falaknuma. The work on this route has recently started. Demolition work has started at MGBS. The land acquisition process for the metro line to be constructed from MGBS to Chandrayangutta as part of the second phase of Hyderabad Metro is going on at a fast pace. Around 1100 properties have been identified for this 7.5 km route. These include residential and commercial complexes. So far, preliminary notifications have been issued for 800 properties.

After discussions with the landowners, they agreed to pay Rs. 81,000 per square yard, the value of the construction as compensation. Apart from this, additional benefits will also be provided as per the Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act. In the second phase, a total of 76.4 km of metro lines will be extended. The cost of this project is estimated at around Rs. 24,269 crore. The project is proposed to be constructed on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) will manage this project. This metro second phase project is likely to be completed by 2029.
