Heatwave in Andhra Pradesh: Government Warns 98 Mandals, 11 on High Alert

Heatwave in Andhra Pradesh:
The summer heat is on fast rise. Temperatures soar across Andhra Pradesh. Light showers are falling in some areas. But the heat is not reducing. People are staying indoors to avoid the heat. The Disaster Management Department issued a warning for Monday. Heatwaves are likely in 98 mandals. Intense heat waves may hit 11 mandals.


Heatwave in Andhra Pradesh:

Ronanki Kurmanath, MD of the Disaster Management Department, issued a statement. He said heatwaves are expected in many areas. Light to moderate rains with thunder may occur in some districts.

Severe heatwave conditions may affect these areas:


– Kakinada-3: Jaggampeta (42.5°C), Kirlampudi (42.3°C), Peddapuram (42.2°C)
– Ambedkar Konaseema-7: Ayanavilli (42.9°C), Ambajipeta (42.6°C), Kapileswarapuram (42.6°C), Kothapeta (42.4°C), Mummidivaram (42.3°C), Pamarru (43.1°C), Ravulapalem (42.3°C)
– East Godavari: Gokavaram (42.9°C)

Other mandals facing heat waves include Alluri Sitarama Raju-5, Kakinada-9, Konaseema-8, East Godavari-18, West Godavari-7, Eluru-8, Krishna-10, Guntur-13, Bapatla-9, Palnadu-5 and Prakasam-6.

Heatwave on Sunday

On Sunday, over 40°C temperatures is recorded in 54 mandals. 30 mandals witness intense heat waves. Heatwaves affected 67 mandals. Affected districts included:

– Srikakulam-7, Vizianagaram-11, Parvathipuram Manyam-10, Eluru-1, NTR-1
– Light to moderate heat waves in: Srikakulam-2, Vizianagaram-7, Parvathipuram Manyam-2, Alluri Sitarama Raju-3, East Godavari-1, West Godavari-2, Eluru-10, Krishna-11, NTR-5, Guntur-16, Bapatla-5, Palnadu-3

Chance of Rain

Thunder showers are likely on Monday in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, East Godavari, Guntur and Prakasam.

Weather System and Wind Alert

A surface trough continues between Coastal Andhra and Yanam at 0.9 km above sea level. As a result, there might be light to moderate rain with thunder in one or two places. Winds will blow at 40–50 kmph. Thunder and lightning are possible.

Coastal Weather Forecast

Coastal Andhra and Yanam will remain hot and humid weather for two more days. After that, temperatures may drop slightly over the next three days. No major change is expected for two days in Rayalaseema. A slight temperature drop may follow.
