OTT Platforms vs Cinema: Building Legacies or Breaking Traditions?

OTT Platforms vs Cinema: Building Legacies or Breaking Traditions?

OTT Platforms vs Cinema: When COVID came in the year 2020, the theaters were closed, and the shooting of films, etc., was also closed. During that period, people had only two means of entertainment, and those were social media and OTT. Social media is in its place, and due to OTT, many changes are now being seen in cinema. Let us tell you how…

Traditional Cinema era

People have been watching cinema or films for entertainment for decades. The form of cinema changed with every decade. We did not know how we changed from reels to cassettes and cards. Earlier, there used to be a lot of craze for any film before its release. People used to stand in line for hours before the release day to buy tickets and watch films. But with time, the craze of cinema is decreasing a bit. This is because of OTT; because in earlier times, if you did not watch a film in the theater, then you would get a chance to watch it again only on its TV premiere. But today, days have changed.

OTT Taking Lead

With time, OTT has become a hit among the people. The films that we could not watch in theaters can now be easily watched on OTT. Not only the recently released films, but also many old films can be easily watched. In such a situation, OTT has reduced the craze for cinema a bit. Apart from this, if we look at the content of OTT, it looks better than many films.

Opportunity for actors

OTT has also found opportunities for many actors who were finding it difficult to get work. Or it can be said that it is because of OTT that we have been able to see the talent of actors like Jaideep Ahlawat, Jeetu Bhaiya, and Vijay Verma. If OTT is called a treasure trove of talent, then that too would not be wrong. It is only because of OTT that TV stars who did not get a chance in Bollywood can show their talent to the public. Not only this, but now many big celebs or star kids are also debuting on OTT.

Different content

People are getting to see something different on OTT, that is, content that cannot be seen in films or theaters. Or maybe we do not even like to see them in films. A web series of 9 or 10 episodes tells so much that we only keep thinking in a three-hour film. In such a situation, people’s view of OTT has changed.

However, we are not saying that due to this the craze of cinema has ended completely; the craze of cinema is there and will always be. But OTT has reduced the crowd of viewers a bit. Among the stars who bring the crowd of viewers to the cinema, only the top stars’ films are left.
