ANPR Cameras to Issue Auto-Challan for Vehicles Without Third Party Insurance

ANPR Cameras to Issue Auto-Challan for Vehicles Without Third Party Insurance

Auto-Challan for Vehicles: Third party insurance is now mandatory for all vehicle owners. Transport Secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal said this rule helps protect both the vehicle owner and victims in case of accidents. Driving without this insurance will now attract automatic penalties in select smart cities.

Auto-Challan for Vehicles:
In cities like Patna, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur and Bihar Sharif, the government has introduced ANPR camera technology. These cameras detect vehicles without valid third party insurance and issue automatic challans. The system sends only one challan per day. Owners get a one day grace period to pay the fine. If the fine remains unpaid, a new e challan is issued on the next violation.

Third party insurance provides financial security. It covers the treatment costs of injured people or compensates in case of death. By law, a minimum of Rs. 5 lakh should be paid as compensation if a fatal accident occurs.

Not having insurance can also lead to legal trouble. The law permits fines and other penalties. More importantly, having insurance is a responsible act. It shows concern for others on the road. Secretary Agarwal reminded citizens that road safety is a shared responsibility.

Benefits of Third Party Insurance:

Financial Protection: It covers expenses when damage is caused to someone else’s property or person.
Legal Safety: It shields the insured person from legal claims made by others.
Support in Accidents: It promises support when an accident happens.
Asset Safety: It prevents loss of personal assets due to third-party claims.
Help in Compensation: It helps settle compensation claims quickly and efficiently.

Vehicle owners are advised to renew or take third party insurance immediately. The government is planning to extend this ANPR based challan system across all states soon. Not following these rules could lead to repeated fines and legal complications.

Having third party insurance is not just a legal requirement but also a moral duty. It ensures that no one faces financial hardship after an accident. With stricter rules in place, now is the time to act.
