IMD Predicts Heavy Thunderstorms for Andhra Pradesh: Check Dates

IMD Predicts Heavy Thunderstorms: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of bad weather when thunderstorms and lightning are predicted in all areas of Andhra Pradesh between April 17 and April 21. Gusty speed winds and slowly rising temperatures are cautioned, and these will affect various districts of the state.

Weather Alert Areas

According to the IMD report, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP), Yanam, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP), and Rayalaseema were forecast to have thunderstorms. Isolated storms are going to develop and are expected to bring peril from heavy winds along with violent lightning.

The department has also put out a warning of gusty 40 to 50 kmph winds, mostly in coastal and southern parts. The residents of these areas are asked to exercise precautions so that they remain safe from any disruption due to bad weather.

Increasing Temperatures Along with Storms

Other than thunderstorms, the IMD also forecasted a gradual rise in maximum temperatures within the state. In NCAP, Yanam, and SCAP, there will be an increase in temperatures by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius from Thursday to Sunday. Yet, in the Rayalaseema belt, temperatures will increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius during the same period.

But despite the fluctuations, no significant temperature changes are predicted from April 21 to 23, providing relief after the unpredictable weather patterns.

Safety Precautions for Home Inhabitants

Thanks to the IMD’s prediction, inhabitants of the storm-affected regions can expect to take steps like:
Staying away from homes when storms are occurring. Keeping loose materials secure so they will not cause damage during winds. Staying away from trees and open areas when lightning occurs. Being on the lookout for local weather reports for renewed warnings

The upcoming weather changes highlight the need for preparedness and knowledge, especially for those in coastal and south-facing regions. Though thunderstorms are a relief from heat, they pose a risk factor too, so one must stay informed and take necessary precautions.
