L2 Empuraan OTT release: Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is playing the lead role in the film ‘L2: Empuraan’. This political action thriller has been directed by hero Prithviraj Sukumaran himself. It is a sequel to the film ‘Lucifer’. This Pan India film, which was released at the end of March amid huge expectations, achieved blockbuster success at the box office. This film, which created a sensation in theaters, is now ready to entertain on OTT. The OTT release date of this movie has been recently announced.
The digital rights of the film ‘L2: Empuraan’ have been acquired by the popular OTT company Jio Hotstar. However, it has been officially announced that it will be streaming on OTT from April 24th. Apart from Hindi, the film will be made available in four southern languages such as Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Tamil. The movie ‘L2: Empuraan’ was released in theaters worldwide on March 27. Now it is going to be released on digital platforms on April 24. This means that the movie is going to be released on OTT in just four weeks. While there are already discussions that the audience is not coming to theaters, the fact that hit movies starring star heroes are being released on OTT without even turning a month old has become a hot topic.
The movie ‘Empuran’, which entered the Rs. 200 crore club in four and a half days, has created history as the highest-grossing Malayalam film till date. Worldwide, it has set a rare record with a gross of over Rs. 250 crore and a theatrical share of over Rs. 100 crore. It is known that objections were expressed over some scenes in the movie. However, these controversies could not stop the collection of Lucifer sequel. However, the makers censored the movie once again. Some scenes were cut and screened in theaters.
‘Empuraan’ stars Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles along with Tovino Thomas, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Indrajith Sukumaran and Manju Warrier. Jerome Flynn, Abhimanyu Singh, Andrea Tivadar, Sachin Khedkar, Saniya Ayyappan and Sai Kumar are seen in other roles. The film, produced under the banners of Lyca Productions, Aashirvad Cinemas and Sri Gokulam Movies, has been written by Murali Gopi. It has already been announced that there will be a ‘Lucifer 3’ as well. Mohanlal has written a letter apologising for the L2 controversy.
