The Souled Store Success Story: Building a Brand, Changing Lives

The Souled Store is one of India’s largest fan merchandise destinations. With 5.5 million Gen Z & Millennial customers, Souled Store generates half of its revenue from non-fan merchandise products. This Store sells products including T-shirts, boxers, backpacks, shoes, socks, perfumes, badges, etc. It also sells officially licensed merchandise from movies, TV shows, and sports teams.

That is, it designs and manufactures clothing products based on pop-culture themes such as superheroes (Marvel, DC Universe), movies (Star Wars, Harry Potter), and TV shows (Friends, Game of Thrones).
What sets this Store apart is that it is licensed merchandise.

The venture is led by three engineers, a lawyer Vedang Patel, Aditya Sharma, Harsh Lal and Rohin Samtani. Harsh Lal, one of the founders, said in the first episode of ‘Unboxing Unlearning’ that they founded the Souled Store out of a dislike for their jobs and a love for pop-culture. Lal said that if the backup plan The Souled Store doesn’t work out, he will go back to finding a 9-5 job. Souled Store was founded in 2013 with the idea of doing something fun that doesn’t require you to wake up every Monday, hating your job.

According to sources, it started with an investment of Rs 1.75 lakh. Currently, 70 per cent of its revenue comes from its website and app, while 15 per cent comes from offline and online marketplaces. The company is targeting a revenue of Rs 1,500 crore in the next three years.
