“Dear brothers and sisters, it is with profound sadness that I announce the death of our Holy Father Francis,” said Cardinal Kevin Farrell in a video address on Vatican TV. Pope Francis, the Bishop of Rome, passed away at 7:35 this morning, returning to the Father’s house. The Vatican praised his lifelong devotion to serving the Lord and the Church. As Rome mourned his passing after a 12-year papacy marked by health struggles. Following this, church bells echoed across the city in tribute.
Pope Francis On Easter Sunday:
On Easter Sunday, Pope Francis appeared on the central lodge of St. Peter’s Basilica to deliver the Urbi et Orbi blessing. He offered his blessing at the end of the Easter Mass on April 20. Riding in his popemobile, he moved swiftly through a sea of thousands gathered in St. Peter’s Square, receiving loud cheers and applause from the crowd.
Recent Hospital Stay:
Pope Francis, who has a history of chronic lung disease, left the hospital in late March after spending five weeks there his longest stay in 12 years due to a respiratory crisis that developed into pneumonia. On April 6, he made a surprise public appearance in Vatican Square. Seated in a wheelchair with an oxygen tube in his nose, he moved through Saint Peter’s Square, greeting supporters and briefly speaking with a few.
