New Airport In Andhra: The way has been paved for the establishment of another airport in AP. An important step has been taken to this extent, giving good news to the residents of Prakasam district.. The Airport Authority of India has granted technical approvals for the construction of an airport at Alluru, Kothapatnam mandal near Ongole. To this extent, 1,016 acres of land will be acquired. Funds of Rs. 115.78 crore have been released as the first installment. Officials said that the land acquisition for this airport will be completed soon and the work will begin.
The Andhra Pradesh government has focused on new airports across the state. It is known that it has made proposals to the Center for 7 more airports. To this extent, the Center is also responding quickly regarding new airports where necessary. Recently, a key step has been taken regarding the airport to be set up near Ongole in Prakasam district. Airport Authority (AI) officials have given the green signal for the necessary technical permissions for the airport near Alluru in Kothapatnam mandal, which is near Ongole. Along with the new airport, the Center has instructed the Airport Authority APADCL (Andhra Pradesh Airport Development Corporation Limited) to acquire 1,016 acres for future needs. For this, Rs. 115.78 crore has been released.
MP Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy, MLA Damacharla Janardhan and JC Ronanki Gopalakrishna have already discussed the required land for the Ongole Airport. It has been identified that there is a one-off land between Alluru and Alluru villages in Kothapatnam mandal for the airport. It is known that a report was sent to the AP government after discussing this with the Collector. Moreover, three months ago, Delhi Airport Authority officials directly inspected the proposed sites at the field level. After that, there is a black stream to the south of the proposed lands. With this, the design was changed keeping in mind future floods.
AI (Airport Authority) officials have identified that 1,016 acres will have to be acquired for future needs with the new airport runway. Out of this, 736 acres are Vanpick lands, while AI has ordered APADCL to acquire another 280 acres. With the latest orders, JC Gopalakrishna, along with RDO Lakshmi Prasanna and revenue officials, visited the area where the proposed lands are located on Thursday at the field level. There, the lands were examined based on maps and photos. JC instructed the revenue officials to survey these lands as soon as possible and submit a report on land acquisition. After that, compensation will be provided to the farmers and the said lands will be acquired.
Overall, progress has been made towards Ongole Airport. With the overall funds also being sanctioned, Prakasam district officials are further accelerating the work related to the new airport. Along with Ongole Airport, steps are being taken regarding Dagadarthi Airport in the neighboring district.
