Pakistan Fires Across LoC: Tensions between India and Pakistan have spiked again after repeated firing incidents along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. In just three days, Pakistan’s army opened unprovoked small arms fire on Indian positions for the third time.
The Indian Army reported that during the night of April 26-27, Pakistani posts fired without provocation across the LoC. They targeted areas near Tutmari Gali and Rampur sectors. Indian soldiers responded swiftly with small arms fire. Fortunately, no casualties occurred on either side.
This latest firing follows the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where terrorists killed 26 civilians. A group called “The Resistance Front” claimed responsibility for the attack. The group links to the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba. Officials call it the worst attack on civilians since the Mumbai 26/11 attacks.
In response, India took strong actions against Pakistan. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced the expulsion of military advisors from the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi. India will also withdraw its defence officials from the High Commission in Islamabad.
Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi visited Udhampur and Srinagar to review the security situation. Senior Army commanders and other security agencies briefed him about the challenges and their plans to ensure safety in the region.
India also suspended the Indus Water Treaty and shut down the Attari check post. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a rally in Bihar, vowed to find and punish every terrorist and their supporters. He assured that terrorism would not break India’s spirit. He promised strong actions to defend the nation.
The situation remains tense. The Indian Army stays on high alert along the LoC to counter any further provocations.
