Retro OTT Release: The eagerly awaited Tamil movie Retro, which features Suriya and is directed by Karthik Subbaraj, has finally been released in theaters today, May 1, 2025. The romantic action drama has already made a buzz among critics and fans. Although the theatrical release is thrilling, many want to know when and where they can watch the movie online.
The post-theatrical streaming rights of Retro have been purchased by Netflix for a high value. The streaming giant had last year announced that the film will be included in its 2025 content roster for South Indian cinema. Through this partnership, Retro will be made accessible to a global viewership in multiple languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
Though no official OTT release date is announced, the movie will presumably stream on Netflix following at least a four-week theatrical window. This gives the film an optimal chance to benefit from its box office before entering the digital world. Fans may anticipate watching the movie available on streaming by early June 2025.
Retro is the first project that Suriya has done with Karthik Subbaraj, the maverick director who is known for his out-of-the-box storytelling. The retro-themed film has Suriya as the male lead, with Pooja Hegde as the heroine. Jayaram, Joju George, and a few others play significant roles in the film. 2D Entertainment, the banner owned by Suriya and Jyotika, is producing the film. A brilliant technical team behind the camera, the movie has music by Santhosh Narayanan and cinematography by Shreyaas Krishna.
In the meantime, Suriya fans can watch some of his all-time best movies currently streaming on OTT platforms. Movies such as Ghajini, Singam, and 7 Aum Arivu highlight his acting range and action hero roles and are a must-watch for every Suriya fan.
