S Sreesanth Suspended: The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has suspended former Indian fast bowler S Sreesanth for a period of three years. This decision was made following his public statements criticizing the KCA in connection with the controversy surrounding cricketer Sanju Samson’s exclusion from recent cricket squads.
Sreesanth who is now a co-owner of the Kerala Cricket League team Kollam Aeries was expected to respond to the notice. While the franchise teams involved gave satisfactory replies and avoided penalties, the KCA found Sreesanth’s explanation unsatisfactory.
At a special General Body meeting held in Kochi on April 30, 2025, the KCA decided to suspend him for three years. They also stated that further steps would be taken to ensure responsible behavior from individuals in team management positions.
In addition to the suspension, the KCA revealed plans to file a compensation case against Sanju Samson’s father, Samson Vishwanath, and two others. They were accused of making false claims against the association by using Sanju Samson’s name.
The KCA clarified that the action against Sreesanth was not because he supported Samson, but due to his defamatory remarks that hurt the association’s reputation. His comments were made during a sensitive time, especially since there was already criticism over Sanju Samson being dropped from the Kerala squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Many believed this could have affected his selection for India’s Champions Trophy team.
