Pahalgam Terror Attack: How Pakistan is Preparing for Possible Escalation

Pahalgam Terror Attack: The recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 people, has heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. In response, India suspended the Indus Water Treaty, closed its airspace to Pakistani flights, and granted full operational freedom to its armed forces. These actions reflect India’s strong stance against terrorism. India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has authorized security forces to retaliate at a time and place of their choosing. Union Home Minister Amit Shah vowed to hunt down the attackers, reinforcing the government’s zero tolerance policy towards terrorism.

Pahalgam Terror Attack:
Meanwhile, Pakistan has taken measures to prepare for potential retaliation. The country has ramped up security around Hafiz Saeed, the notorious leader of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and has deployed additional forces to protect him. Pakistan’s media has fueled fears of an impending Indian airstrike, but there have been no confirmed incursions so far. In response to these tensions, over 1,000 madrassas (religious schools) in Pakistan have been closed as a precautionary measure.

Pakistan’s actions reflect a growing sense of insecurity, particularly in areas near the Line of Control (LoC). In towns like Muzaffarabad, children are being trained in basic emergency response skills, such as first aid and fire safety. Additionally, residents have been urged to stockpile food supplies for up to two months.

The escalating situation has caused an exodus from the Neelum Valley, a popular tourist destination close to the border. Hotels and shops have been left deserted, signaling a sharp decline in tourism due to the threat of war.

While the United States has called for de-escalation, expressing support for India, Pakistan remains on high alert, fearing further military action. The situation remains volatile, with both nations bracing for potential escalation.
