Hyderabad: Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, has come up with a summer camp. To provide an interactive and learning experience for children and their parents. Curator J Vasantha is spearheading the campaign, which intends to impart the right knowledge about wildlife protection, biodiversity and environment awareness through sessions and guided activities.
Guided tours will be organized in which the children will study different species, habitats, mating behaviors, and conservation measures. There will also be a reptile awareness session in which the participants will learn to distinguish snakes as venomous or non-venomous and learn tips for defending themselves against snakebites.
One of the main attractions of the programme will be a workshop conducted by Melissa Charles Holmes. The UK Director and Wildlife Specialist of the Zoo. As she leads visitors through the tiger enclosure, she makes important observations about the role wild animals play in conservation and biodiversity conservation, a pleasant add-on to the visitors.
The summer camp is open from class 5 to class 10. So that the students have a firsthand experience of wildlife education. The registration cost for the candidates is Rs. 1,000, along with which lunch, refreshments and a special camp kit comprising cap, notepad and logoed badge is provided. The summer camp, extending until the end of June. Will be conducted in different batches to accommodate more families under the scheme. The plan has been drawn out taking into consideration the development of the love for nature and wildlife among the children along with a process of experiential learning.
