Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor: One of the greatest fantasy dramas of Telugu cinema, Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, is set for a massive re-release on May 9, 2025, when it will reach 35 years from its release. With the iconic Chiranjeevi and the late Sridevi in the lead, the film is getting a remastered 3d version, which promises to give an immersive feel to both the old and new generations of audiences. The project is being re-released by producer Aswani Dutt, with Nag Ashwin overseeing the new format, adding an exciting touch to this nostalgic event.
Before re-release, Chiranjeevi glanced through the film and his finest on-screen combination ever with Sridevi, recalling on-screen rapport between them. “I miss Sridevi a lot today today. She was JVAS’ star heroine, and her character was fantasy character,” he recalled. He also nostalgically remembered how their on-screen rapport in the performances brought the film to a previously unseen level, turning out to be one of the most endearing classics of Telugu cinema.
For years, fans have speculated about a sequel to Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, but no project ever materialized. However, Chiranjeevi’s recent comments have reignited excitement. “I did not want the sequel to be made in the first place. Now, however, I would like the sequel to be directed by Nag Ashwin with Ram Charan from RRR and Janhvi Kapoor. It will have a solid connect with the first part and could be a dream movie for the actors,” he added. His idea of Ram Charan re-casting his legacy in new avatar, with Janhvi Kapoor in the lead, already generated humongous fan controversies.
Initially hitting the screens at Rs 2 crore, the movie had successful first-run collections of Rs 15 crore. Never before had a movie been so successful, with tickets that used to be Rs 5 rising to a whopping Rs 200 in Andhra Pradesh. Adding a re-released 3D, trade specialists believe heavy rushes are expected, pulling the cult classic to the present-day limelight.
