Hydra demolitions in Gachibowli: Hydra, which was formed to protect the lakes and government lands in Greater Hyderabad, has once again started demolitions. Illegal structures at the Sandhya Convention Center in Gachibowli are being demolished. Hydra took action after receiving a complaint that irregularities had been committed in the FCI layout. The mini hall, food court and several sheds were demolished.
The Hydra system was established to protect ponds, government properties, and drainage systems in Greater Hyderabad. Initiated in July last year, Hydra has successfully demolished hundreds of illegal structures, including those at the N Convention, owned by film actor Nagarjuna. Recently, the Hydra bulldozers, which had been inactive for some time, resumed their operations against illegal constructions. Today, several illegal structures in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, have been demolished. Hydra officials are currently dismantling a mini hall and a food court at the Sandhya Convention Center, located opposite the Gachibowli Police Station.
Fertilizers Corporation of India (FCI) had previously laid out a layout on about 20 acres of land in survey numbers 124 and 127 in Gachibowli. 162 people who bought plots in this layout complained to Hydra that the owners of Sandhya Convention were building illegal structures in their society’s layout. The complaint stated that Sandhya Construction had taken up several illegal structures by changing the previously laid layout and encroaching on roads and parks. Hydra officials who entered the field… started the work of removing the unauthorized structures from the morning. Along with the mini hall, kitchens and rest rooms of Sandhya Convention, the sheet fence built encroaching on the layout and three iron sheds built as G+2 were removed. Hydra officials revealed that some other structures will be demolished.
Meanwhile, Hydra is cracking down on illegal constructions. As per the government’s orders, Hydra is also preparing to set up a special Hydra police station. This police station is being constructed on two floors in a building near Buddha Bhavan. Hydra Commissioner AV Ranganath revealed that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will inaugurate this police station on the 8th of this month. He said that this police station will have one ACP, six inspectors, 12 SIs, 30 constables and more than 70 staff available. He said that this special police station will focus on land grabbing as well as illegal sand mining. The Hydra Commissioner revealed that steps are being taken to send those involved in illegal activities in the city behind bars.
