Hyderabad Airport : India’s bold military operation, Operation Sindoor, has cost massive repercussions. Not just on geostrategic levels but also in the aviation sector. The air raids, targeting key terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), have led to increased security protocols across northern India. As a result, some domestic flights from Hyderabad airport were cancelled, with airlines and passengers scrambling to arrange alternative travel.
At least 18 Hyderabad to north Indian city flights were abruptly cancelled and airspace restricted suddenly. Some routes affected were those to Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, and Jodhpur as famous tourist destinations. Emergency airport shut-offs of airports in the north Indian region forced airlines to cancel flights, and travel disruptions ensued along with supply chain issues.
Some airlines issued ad hoc advisories, advising the passengers to keep themselves updated with flight timings and be on guard for last-minute disruption before flying to the airport. Passengers were also advised against procrastination as air vigilance was intensified.
India’s air force carried out Operation Sindoor with utmost care, targeting nine major terror infrastructure hubs in Pakistan and PoK. The surgical military strikes were aimed at the hideouts of Maulana Masood Azhar and Hafiz Saeed, two of the most infamous masterminds of international terror operations.
After India’s provocative action, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced plans for retaliation, intensifying tensions between the two countries. The airports in the northern part of India, in response, halted air activities to guarantee national security and get ready for further updates on the crisis.
