No More Pakistani Content? Govt Urges OTT Takedown

Pakistani Content: In a recent statement released on Thursday, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting advised all Indian media streaming platforms, OTT platforms, and intermediaries to stop carrying web series, movies, music, podcasts, and other streaming media content that originated in Pakistan.


Government action on the Pakistani Content:
This decision was taken by the government to make sure no support is given in form or any means. As the growing tensions between India and Pakistan this decision has taken by the centre.

In its official statement, the Centre advised all OTT platforms, media streaming platforms, and intermediaries operating in India to immediately discontinue web series, films, songs, podcasts, and other streaming media content originating from Pakistan, in the interest of national security.


Operation Sindoor:

India initiated Operation Sindoor in response to the terror assault in Pahalgam on April 22. On Wednesday morning, the Indian Armed Forces led the operation, targeting nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif vowed to retaliate against India’s operation.

The India-Pakistan conflict

Before India launched Operation Sindoor, Pakistan had been violating the ceasefire along the Line of Control for several days. After the operation, the Pakistani army intensified artillery fire in the border village of Poonch, killing at least 15 people.

Officials revealed Thursday that the Indian military successfully blocked several attempts by the Pakistani military to use drones and missiles to target key areas in Northern and Western India last night. Indian forces also launched retaliatory strikes on Pakistani air defense equipment at multiple locations. According to a statement from the Defense Ministry, the Pakistani military targeted Awantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj.
