IMD forecast in AP and Telangana:
Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will receive rain for the next few days. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast rain due to a trough extending from South Telangana to the Gulf of Mannar. This weather system passes over Rayalaseema and South Tamil Nadu. It exists at a height of about 0.9 kilometers above sea level.
Several districts in both states recorded rainfall in the past few days. Daytime heat continues, but rain offers temporary relief. The weather department issued alerts for districts likely to face thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds.
North Coastal districts in Andhra Pradesh like Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram may receive light to moderate rain. These areas may also experience wind at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour. Weather conditions remain unstable. Power cuts and traffic issues may occur in some urban areas.
South Coastal Andhra including Guntur, Krishna, Prakasam and Nellore will also have similar weather conditions.Light to moderate rain is expected in these places. Gusty winds and short spells of thunder and lightning may occur during evening and night hours.
Rayalaseema districts will likely receive rainfall for the next three days. Kadapa, Kurnool, Chittoor and Anantapur may experience thunderstorm activity. Local farmers have been advised to take care of crops and avoid exposure during lightning spells.
Telangana will also face unstable weather. Several districts are under weather alerts. The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre listed rainfall possibilities in Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Warangal, Mahabubabad, Nalgonda, Suryapet and Khammam. Hyderabad may receive light rain, especially at night.
Yellow alerts are active in multiple districts. Rain may cause waterlogging in low lying areas. Gusty winds could disrupt outdoor activities and road travel.
Meteorologists also observed changes in the Bay of Bengal. The south west monsoon may enter the South Andaman Sea, South east Bay of Bengal and Nicobar Islands by May 12. This seasonal change could bring wider rainfall activity across South India.
Local administrations have asked people to stay indoors during storms. Residents should secure loose items and avoid driving in stormy conditions. The public should stay updated through official weather bulletins and advisories.
