Central Govt Compensation for Martyred Agniveers: Rs. 1 crore?

Compensation for Martyred Agniveers: The family of a soldier who dies while serving as a firefighter in the Indian Army receives compensation from the central government. However, this is less than the amount that would be received if an ordinary soldier dies. However, the family of the firefighter will receive life insurance, ex-gratia, salary for the remaining period of service, service fund package, additional assistance from the Armed Forces Battle Casualty Fund, and immediate financial assistance. If all these are combined, the compensation will be approximately Rs. 1 crore to Rs. 1.5 crore, according to relevant sources.

Central Govt Compensation for Martyred Agniveers

In the wake of the situation after India’s Operation Sindoor against Pakistan’s attacks, Murali Naik, a firefighter from Kalitanda in Gaddam Thanda Panchayat of Gorantla Mandal of Sathya Sai District of Andhra Pradesh, was martyred in the firing between India and Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir. Usually, those who serve as soldiers in the three services of India.. and sacrifice their lives for the country while fighting against the enemy in the line of duty.. receive various types of compensation, assistance, and awards from the central government. However, a few years ago, the Narendra Modi government, which is in power at the center.. introduced a scheme called Agniveer for those who join the three services of India. Under this Agniveer scheme, the soldiers who join the Indian Army serve for only 4 years. After that, only 25 percent of them are taken and the rest are set aside. Let us see Compensation for Martyred Agniveers

If a soldier who joined the Indian Army under the Agniveer scheme dies in service, the central government will provide financial assistance to his family in various forms. The center has formulated several key guidelines to financially support the family of a martyred Agniveer.

Life Insurance:

Every soldier who joins as an Agniveer is provided with a life insurance policy worth Rs. 48 lakhs. If the Agniveer dies in service, the amount is given to their family members. The premium for this life insurance is borne by the central government. This life insurance is applicable whether during training, in war or in case of natural death.

Ex-gratia:

As part of the performance of duty, an additional ex-gratia of Rs. 44 lakh will be paid to the family of the martyred Agniveer. This is additional financial assistance to the family of Agniveer, regardless of the life insurance.

Remaining service salary:

The total service of an Agniveer is 4 years. However, at any time when an Agniveer dies, the remaining time left to complete the 4 years of service is calculated and the full salary related to that period is given to the Agniveer’s family. All this is paid at once.

Service Fund Package:

Agniveer will deposit some amount from his salary during his service period to the service fund. Whatever amount Agniveer deposits to the service fund, the government will also deposit the same amount. After completing 4 years of service, the amount in this fund (approximately Rs. 11.71 lakhs) along with interest will be paid to that Agniveer. If he dies in the middle of the service, this amount will be immediately given to his family. There is no income tax on this service fund.

Armed Forces Battle Casualty Fund:

After Agniveer’s martyrdom, the family will also receive additional financial assistance from the Armed Forces Battle Casualty Fund. Currently, the amount received from this fund varies depending on the circumstances at that time. However, it is known from relevant sources that this fund will also be a significant amount.

Immediate financial assistance:

A certain amount will be provided to the family members of the martyred Agniveer as immediate assistance for his funeral and other needs.

Total compensation:

If we add up the various types of compensation mentioned above, if a firefighter dies while in service, their family will receive financial assistance ranging from Rs. 1 crore to Rs. 1.5 crore. This amount is said to vary according to the circumstances of the martyred soldier and the applicable rules. In addition to these, there are also compensations given by the respective state governments. Gallantry awards are also given to firefighter who die in extraordinary combat.
