Pakistan missile Fatah-II aimed at Delhi post operation sindoor

Tensions have mounted between India and Pakistan after Operation Sindoor, the Indian retaliatory military operation against the Pahalgam terror attack. For that, as a retaliatory measure, Pakistan fired a Fatah-II missile with Delhi reportedly targeted, but Indian defense systems effectively intercepted it at Sirsa in Haryana.

Operation Sindoor: Indian Retaliatory Strikes

India conducted precision strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK on May 7. It was a prudent response to the 22 April Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 civilians and security personnel dead.

Indian strikes were directed at key terrorist hideouts with the aim of destroying militant infrastructure and stopping attacks in the future. The operation was “focused, measured, and non-escalatory,” Indian authorities stated.

Pakistan missile Fatah-II

Pakistan retaliated with the Fatah-II missile against Operation Sindoor, targeting Delhi as per reports. The missile was intercepted by Indian defense systems in Sirsa, Haryana, without inflicting any damage.

Fatah-II is a surface-to-surface missile with advanced navigation systems. Pakistan has already tested the missile in a military drill, but for the first time, its use in actual combat is a serious escalation.

India’s Defense Response: S-400 Air Defense System
India’s S-400 Sudarshan Chakra missile defense system, acquired from Russia, was instrumental in destroying the Fatah-II missile. The system, being precise and quick in its reaction, destroyed the threat easily before it could reach its destination.

The S-400 system can identify and destroy aerial threats at a distance of 400 km, making it a crucial component of India’s missile defense system.

Global Reactions and Diplomatic Concerns
The missile attack has also been a cause of worry for world leaders as it has attracted calls for the de-escalation of hostilities between India and Pakistan. World powers and the United Nations have appealed to the two nations to use restraint and try out diplomatic efforts.

However, India threatened Pakistan with an attack, stating that any attacks that are to be carried out will be met with aggressive defense tactics.

Pakistan’s Fatah-II missile downing is a turning point in the India-Pakistan crisis. Operation Sindoor was intended to neutralize terror attacks, but the Pakistani retaliatory missile escalation has heightened tension. The two countries are embroiled in crisis while the issue is still at national security, defense preparedness, and diplomatic resolution.
