BrahMos missile cost:
India’s BrahMos missile recently made headlines after it was used in a powerful airstrike on terrorist camps in Pakistan. This missile is a symbol of India’s defense strength and advanced technology. Developed jointly by India and Russia, the missile gets its name from two rivers India’s Brahmaputra and Russia’s Moskva.
On May 7, India launched a major operation called Operation Sindoor. In this mission, nine terrorist training centers in Pakistan were destroyed using the BrahMos missile. Over 100 terrorists were reportedly killed. Later, Pakistan tried to retaliate using drones and missiles, but India successfully stopped those attacks. In response, India destroyed four Pakistani air bases with BrahMos again.
The cost to develop the BrahMos missile was about 250 million US dollars. At present value, this equals around ₹2,135 crore. Although the exact price of each missile is not officially shared, reports say one unit costs around ₹34 crore. The production cost of the missile is about ₹300 crore.
What makes BrahMos so dangerous is its speed and range. It is a supersonic cruise missile that can fly at three times the speed of sound. Its basic range is 290 kilometers, but newer versions can reach up to 800 kilometers. It can carry 200 to 300 kilograms of explosives and hit its target with great accuracy, making it very effective in destroying enemy locations.
This missile is made under India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, showing the country’s ability to build powerful weapons on its own. With BrahMos, India has shown that it can defend itself strongly and strike back when needed.
In short, BrahMos is not just a missile — it is India’s message that it can protect its borders and respond to threats with full strength.
