Pakistan High Commission Official: The Indian government has asked a Pakistani official from the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi to leave the country within 24 hours. The official was declared “persona non grata,” meaning he is no longer welcome in India. This action was taken because the individual was allegedly involved in activities not in line with his diplomatic duties.
The strained relations follow India’s military operation, named Operation Sindoor, launched after a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22. The attack killed 26 people, including tourists and one person from Nepal. India believes the terrorists involved had links to Pakistan. In response, India targeted nine terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the armed forces for the successful execution of Operation Sindoor. He strongly warned Pakistan that any future terrorist attacks would face serious retaliation. He also stated that peace and talks cannot happen alongside terrorism.
Pakistan responded by rejecting Modi’s comments and claimed they were aggressive and provocative. The Pakistani government said it remains committed to a recent ceasefire understanding and wants to maintain peace and stability in the region.
Despite the ceasefire announcement, tensions remain high. Pakistan was accused of sending drones into Indian territory shortly after the ceasefire was declared. India’s air defense intercepted these drones, particularly near the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district. This caused panic among residents, but no major damage was reported.
To reduce the risk of further conflict, military officials from both countries held talks to reinforce peace and decrease troops along the border.
While both sides talk about peace, the situation remains delicate, and any new incident could escalate tensions once again.
