Hyderabad: The construction of a new highway connecting Khammam and Devarapalli is progressing rapidly. This 165-kilometer highway will enhance transportation facilities between the two Telugu states. As part of this project, underpasses, bridges, and entry and exit points are being built. Once completed, this highway will significantly reduce travel time for those traveling from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam. Minister Tummala has set a target to open this greenfield highway by August 15.
The new highway connecting Khammam and Devarapalli is being completed rapidly. This highway is being constructed at a cost of about Rs. 3,573 crore and is 165 km long. As part of this project, the construction of five packages, 117 underpasses, 33 culverts and nine major bridges is being carried out rapidly in the Telugu states. If this highway becomes available, the movement between Rajahmundry and Visakhapatnam via Khammam will become easier. Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said that the target is to start the movement of vehicles on this highway by August 15.
If the construction of this greenfield highway is completed, vehicles going from Hyderabad via Vijayawada can reach Rajahmundry, Kakinada and Visakhapatnam via Suryapet, Khammam and Devarapalli. Similarly, vehicles going from Visakhapatnam and Rajahmundry to Hyderabad can travel via Khammam instead of via Kodad. Currently, to reach Visakhapatnam from Hyderabad, one has to travel 670 kilometers via Vijayawada. This journey takes about 12 hours. However, if the newly constructed national highway is made available, one can travel 550 kilometers directly from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam in 8 hours without going via Vijayawada. This will reduce the travel distance by 120 kilometers and the travel time by 4 hours. Passengers can travel easily without traffic hassles.
This road, which is being constructed between the cities of Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam through Khammam district, will serve as an important transport route for the Telugu states. The construction of the national highway from Khammam to Suryapet has already been completed. There is a four-lane road from Devarapalli to Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh . Currently, the construction of a 165-km four-lane national highway from Khammam to Devarapalli is underway. This national greenway is being developed under the Bharatmala Economic Corridor Scheme under the name NH-365BG.
The Greenfield National Highway from Khammam to Devarapalli in East Godavari district is like a jewel for the Telugu states. We will also construct service roads without causing any problems to the farmers who have given their lands for the construction of this road. Our goal is to open this road by August 15 and ensure that vehicular movement is possible, said Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao.
