Rain Storms in Southern India in Peak Summer: Southern India has been recording record rainfalls during the peak summer season, disrupting normal life in most of the states. The rainstorms have caused floods, traffic congestion, and destruction of infrastructure. Let us consider the worst-hit places and the impact of such climate.

1. Telangana – Thunderstorms and Heavy Showers

Telangana too has seen rains and thunder showers rolled into the districts. Heavy showers have been seen in Nizamabad, Hyderabad, Khammam, and Medak with traffic jams and water logging. Bhadradri Kothagudem’s Aswapuram saw the highest rains and is indicative of the abnormal seasonal trend.

2. Karnataka – Bengaluru Sees Torrential Rains

Bengaluru’s sudden rains led to widespread waterlogging on clogged roads like Silk Board Junction and Hosur Road. India Meteorological Department (IMD) had already put out an orange alert, forecasting incessant rain with possible flash floods in some areas.

3. Kerala – Red Alerts and Flooding

Kerala is among the most affected states, with IMD declaring red alert over different districts after a series of rain showers. Low-lying areas are inundated, paralyzing transportation and main establishments.

4. Tamil Nadu – Inconvenience Because of Heavy Rains

Heavy rain has been showering Tamil Nadu in surprise rains, striking Chennai and surrounding districts. The rains have closed schools and transportation, and extra inconvenience is added to it.

5. Andhra Pradesh – Rain Terror to Coastal Areas

Endless rains in coastal Andhra Pradesh are being caused by a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal. Vizianagaram, Manyam, and East Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh are among the regions which experienced rain effect, with road blockades and local market sickness.

6. Puducherry – Heavy Rains

Heavy rain, waterlogging, and traffic also terrorized Puducherry. Authorities are careful not to allow heavy floods.
