TTD Embraces AI: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the temple management of the sacred Venkateswara Temple, is set to launch Artificial Intelligence (AI) and face recognition system to make pilgrimage operations smoother. It is an addition to launching more security, eliminating frauds, and enhancing pilgrims’ experience.
TTD will be issuing time-slotted darshan tokens with facial recognition software so that pilgrims can be traced. The system will also track the 30-day history of 10 lakh faces so that repeat bookings are avoided and other devotees can proceed without waiting.
Another major objective of this project is avoiding impersonation and cheating. TTD can apply AI-based authentication to avoid pilgrims from pretending to be somebody else to get darshan, thereby making darshan safe and efficient.
Facial recognition AI cameras will also be mounted at strategic locations such as queue lines, compartments, and temple complexes to track pilgrim movement. This will enable temple administration to accurately forecast waiting time and inform devotees of their darshan time.
Besides darshan management, facial recognition and AI will find application in accommodation services and access control. It will make check-ins problem-free, waiting time nil, and the entire pilgrimage experience improved.
The intruder detection on the temple campus will also be enabled through facial recognition. The security system will ensure an intruder is detected and dealt with accordingly.
