Hyderabad to Get 2,000 Electric Buses: Deets Inside

Electric Buses: The Narendra Modi government at the center has brought another key scheme. It is taking steps to further improve public transport in many cities of the country under the name of PM E-Drive. As part of this, this scheme will be implemented with a total of Rs. 11 thousand crores. As part of this, it has been decided to introduce electric buses in 5 cities of the country. This scheme has been brought to bring electric buses in public transport. In this, 2 thousand buses will come to Hyderabad.


Why this sudden change?

The central government is taking many steps to reduce the increasing pollution in the country. But most importantly, it is taking many decisions to prevent pollution in cities. As part of this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is formulating policies in line with the Clean Urban Mobility Vision. As part of this, the process of introducing electric buses (e-buses) in major cities of the country is being rapidly implemented. In this context, it has been decided to make 14,028 electric buses available to city residents across the country at a cost of Rs. 10,900 crore.

THESE 5 cities to transform

Details related to these buses were revealed in a review meeting held on the PM e-Drive scheme chaired by Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy. As part of this, these electric buses will be made available in 5 cities from April 2024 to March 2026. The main focus is on the states of Telangana, Karnataka, Delhi and Gujarat. Sources said that this meeting will be a key step in providing solutions for clean and integrated clean urban mobility across the country . However, after these discussions, it was said that buses will be provided to 5 cities under the PM E-Drive scheme. Of this, 4,500 electric buses will be provided to Bengaluru, 2,000 to Hyderabad, 2,800 to Delhi, 1,000 to Ahmedabad and 600 electric buses to Surat, the Ministry of Heavy Industries has revealed.


Pollution Control

Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy said that the country is now taking bold steps towards sustainable urban transport, thanks to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. From Bengaluru to Delhi, cities are looking forward to getting electric buses to make their public transport cleaner, smarter and more efficient, Kumaraswamy said. However, the central government is not only allocating electric buses, he said, adding that it is giving a future shape to the country’s transport system with new innovations and environmental consciousness. He said that the central government is committed to implementing the PM e-Drive scheme in close coordination with the states of Telangana, Karnataka, Delhi and Gujarat.

The PM e-Drive initiative led by Prime Minister Modi aims to deploy 14,028 electric buses at a total cost of Rs 10,900 crore over a period of 2 years. This will be one of the largest national efforts in the world to introduce electric buses on a large scale in public transport, sources said. The Union Minister said that the Ministry of Heavy Industries is committed to timely delivery, operational readiness and strategic partnerships with all participating states. He expressed hope that through this PM e-Drive scheme, pollution in the cities of the country will be reduced and better, environment-friendly transport facilities will be provided to the people.
