Covid Update: Following almost eight months of no new Covid-19 cases, Haryana has found four new infections. The infections have been detected in Faridabad and Gurugram, with two people being affected in each district. Though Covid-19 is no longer on the list of emergencies, these new cases indicate the virus’s persistence.
As per health authorities, the infected persons which is a combination of both men and women. They are showing mild symptoms. None of them need hospitalization, and all of them are now being quarantined in their homes as a precautionary step. Out of the four, one person has a recent travel history to Mumbai, while the others have been said to not travel outside the state in the past weeks.
Doctors handling the cases have assured that the patients are doing well after being treated and their symptoms are low-grade fever, sore throat, and mild fatigue—all of which are treatable with medication and rest.
Government’s Response to Covid Cases
In response to these new cases, Haryana’s Health and Family Welfare Minister, Arti Singh Rao, was quick to assure the public that there isn’t an immediate cause for concern. Still, the state government was on its guard, keeping close watch on any subsequent developments.
The local healthcare authorities have been directed by the government to have in place critical medical facilities like testing kits, oxygen availability, and treatment centers to prepare for a surge. Civil surgeons in the state have been ordered to evaluate healthcare logistics and preparedness.
Although Covid-19 is no longer seen as a major risk factor, health authorities continue to assert that elementary precautionary protocols are still vital in avoiding infections. Experts still call upon the public to practice Covid-appropriate behavior, which includes:
Frequent hand washing
Masks in public places
Avoidance of unnecessary crowds
Vulnerable groups, including the elderly and people with comorbid conditions, are further encouraged to see a physician if they develop any symptoms suggestive of Covid-19.
The incidence of fresh cases reminds everyone that Covid-19 has not really gone away. Though the situation is in hand now, officials urge citizens to be vigilant and stick to precautions to avoid risks. Strict vigilance and elementary precautions will keep the virus from regaining firm ground in Haryana.
