Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga recently shared an emotional post on social media that appeared to be aimed at actress Deepika Padukone. Though he didn’t mention her name directly, his words clearly pointed to the recent events surrounding his film Spirit.

Deepika was earlier expected to star opposite Prabhas in Spirit, a much-anticipated movie. However, she decided to leave the project, and actress Triptii Dimri has now been confirmed as the female lead. This sudden change didn’t sit well with Sandeep.

On Monday night, the director wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) between us. But by doing this, you’ve ‘DISCLOSED’ the person that you are… Putting down a Younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for?”

He also asked the actress to reveal the full story behind the exit. He added, “As a filmmaker, I put years of hard work behind my craft & for me, filmmaking is everything. You didn’t get it. You won’t get it. You will never get it. Aisa karo…. Agli baar poori kahani bolna… kyunki mujhe jarra bhi farak nahi padtha. #dirtyPRgames. I like this kahawath very much – Khundak mein billi khamba noche.”

Reports suggest that Spirit will be a bold and action-packed film, with some mature scenes. The filmmakers wanted someone comfortable with such roles, which may have influenced the casting change. Sandeep had earlier worked with Triptii in Animal, and it seems he trusts her with this important role.

After the announcement, Triptii shared her excitement on Instagram, saying she was “grateful” and “honoured” to be part of the film.

While the exact reason for Deepika’s exit remains unclear, Sandeep’s strong reaction shows how much the script and project mean to him.
