Telangana Rains Raise Risk of Disease: Health Sector on High Alert

Telangana Rains: The state medical and health department has warned people to be vigilant against seasonal diseases in the wake of the rains in the state of Telangana. The Telangana Public Medical and Health Department Director’s Office has informed in a statement that there is a possibility of diseases spreading due to the forecast of heavy rains in the next two days and the precautions to be taken to prevent them.

Telangana Rains: Things to note down

It is very important to prevent the mosquito menace that usually increases during the rainy season. For this, the medical department has suggested that the entry of mosquitoes can be prevented by installing mosquito nets on the doors and windows of the houses. In addition, it should be ensured that there is no water accumulation in the areas around the house. By observing every Friday as a ‘dry day’ and removing water accumulations around the houses, mosquito breeding can be controlled. These measures will significantly reduce mosquito-borne diseases like dengue and malaria.

Also, caution is needed when it comes to drinking water. The health department has emphasized that only filtered or boiled water should be consumed. It has warned against eating outside food items, which can cause gastrointestinal infections.

Personal hygiene and health precautions

Everyone should prioritize personal hygiene. It is advised to wash hands frequently with soap. To prevent airborne infections, one should stay away from people with symptoms like cold, cough, and fever. One should minimize shaking hands when meeting each other. If one does so, one should definitely clean hands with sanitizer.

The medical department has appealed to anyone who shows symptoms of seasonal diseases like cough, fever, headache, sore throat, to be admitted to the nearest government hospital without delay. In case of emergency, it has been advised to call 108. The statement said that all government hospitals and medical centers across the state are ready with all kinds of medical facilities and staff, and people should take advantage of these services. Officials have asked people to follow these instructions to stay healthy during the monsoon season.
