Thug Life Boycott Controversy:
Veteran actor Kamal Haasan has finally addressed the controversy surrounding his upcoming film Thug Life, which is set to release on June 5, 2025. The film, directed by Mani Ratnam, is facing a potential boycott in Karnataka due to a language-related issue. The controversy began when Kamal Haasan stated that the Kannada language originated from Tamil during a speech at the audio launch of the movie. This comment sparked outrage among some Kannada-speaking groups.
The statement suggests that Haasan stands firm on his words unless proven wrong. He emphasized that his intent was never to offend anyone but to express cultural unity and respect for all South Indian languages.
The film Thug Life tells the story of Rangaraya Sakthivel Naicker, a powerful gangster who returns from the dead, suspecting his foster son of betrayal. The intense action thriller stars Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan TR in lead roles, with Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami, Joju George, and others playing key characters.
Despite the controversy, the makers are going ahead with the film’s release as scheduled. Kamal Haasan is also expected to work next in a new film tentatively titled KH237, directed by the action duo AnbArivu.
