Arjun Reddy first choice hero:
Arjun Reddy is a well-known Telugu film that became a big hit after its release in 2017. The movie was directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and starred Vijay Deverakonda in the lead role. However, not many know that Vijay was not the first choice for the film.
In a recent interview, actor Manchu Manoj revealed that Sandeep Reddy Vanga had first approached him with the script of Arjun Reddy in 2013. Manoj shared that he liked the story but had to turn down the offer due to personal reasons. He now regrets missing the opportunity to work with such a talented director.
“I really wish I had done that movie. Sandeep had told me the story back then, but things didn’t work out,” Manoj said. He also expressed hope that he could work with Vanga in the future.
Despite the initial hurdles, Arjun Reddy became a cult classic over time. While it received some criticism for its intense and controversial content, many viewers appreciated its raw storytelling and bold approach. The movie starred Vijay Deverakonda as a troubled medical student and Shalini Pandey as his love interest.
Due to the film’s success, it was later remade in other languages. The Hindi version, titled Kabir Singh, featured Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani and was also directed by Vanga. In Tamil, it was remade twice—first as Adithya Varma and later as Varmaa, both starring Dhruv Vikram.
While fans loved Vijay Deverakonda in the role, it’s interesting to imagine how the movie might have turned out with someone else in the lead.
