India Pakistan Ceasefire:
Former US President Donald Trump has once again claimed that his administration played a key role in preventing a serious conflict between India and Pakistan. Speaking from the Oval Office with Elon Musk, Trump said the US helped avoid a possible nuclear war between the two South Asian neighbors.
Trump mentioned, “We stopped India and Pakistan from fighting. That could have turned into a nuclear disaster.” He thanked the leaders of both countries and his team for helping to calm the situation. According to him, trade discussions were used as a tool to bring both sides to the table.
However, the Indian government has always said that the decision to stop hostilities with Pakistan was made directly between the two countries. Officials in India have clearly stated that there was no foreign involvement. The ceasefire, announced earlier this year, was a result of talks between the military officers from both sides.
Trump also made light remarks saying that one day, leaders from India and Pakistan could “have dinner together.” He called it a historic ceasefire and praised the leadership of both countries for choosing peace over conflict.
This is not the first time Trump has claimed to be involved in improving India-Pakistan ties. While he says trade played a major role, India continues to stress that such matters are handled bilaterally without outside help.
Trump’s statements have sparked mixed reactions. While some see it as an effort to promote peace, others believe it oversimplifies a complex relationship. Despite past tensions, India and Pakistan have maintained a ceasefire for several months, which has reduced violence along the border.
